Digitally Driven Restorative Excellence is a comprehensive course designed to help clinicians integrate modern digital workflows into everyday restorative dentistry. John C. Cranham, DDS resides in Chesapeake, Virginia, with his wife of 30 years, Kim. Together, they have three children. At his state-of-the-art dental practice, Dr. Cranham practices with his daughter Kaitlyn, where he focuses on aesthetic dentistry, implant dentistry, occlusal reconstruction and solving TMJ/facial pain issues. He is dedicated to addressing complex dental problems with an interdisciplinary focus, helping patients achieve healthy, long-lasting, comfortable, and natural-looking smiles.
Dr. Cranham has been an active educator since 1995. In 2001, Dr. Cranham founded Cranham Dental Seminars, offering both lecture and intensive hands-on training. In 2004, he began teaching with his mentor Pete Dawson at The Dawson Academy, a world-renowned educational institute in St. Petersburg, Florida. This partnership led to the merger of Cranham Dental Seminars with The Dawson Academy in 2007, where Dr. Cranham became a partner and served as Clinical Director until 2020. In January of 2025 he became the “Coordinator of Digital Integration” at The Pankey Institute.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Cranham has delivered more than 1,850 full-day continuing education programs worldwide. His teaching focus now is on integrating sound occlusal, aesthetic, and restorative principles into efficient digital workflows. After an 18-month proof of concept with 20 doctors, in 2021, Dr. Cranham partnered with renowned dental ceramist Lee Culp to create Cranham Culp Digital Dental. Their mission is to empower dental teams to enhance clinical outcomes and profitability by transitioning to effective digital technologies and workflows, all while upholding the core principles of esthetics, occlusion, biology, and structural integrity.
Dr. Cranham has published numerous articles on restorative dentistry and co-authored The Complete Dentist Manual: The Essential Guide to Being a Complete Care Dentist with Dr. Pete Dawson in 2018. Additionally in 2020, he authored The Cornell Effect-A Family’s Journey towards Happiness, Fulfillment and Peace. It is a deeply personal story about his adopted son, who overcame extraordinary challenges and inspired his family to be better. The book became a top five Amazon bestseller and continues to have a profound impact on readers.
