Sean Hudson, Bryan Gray, CPA, Tracy Gutzmer, MBA and Timothy Sardone, Esq. will be sharing their expertise on the details of the pre-transition and transition process for dentists selling their practices. This course will cover the topics of account management, credentialing, and professional ethics in relation to the transition process and continuation of patient care.
Learning Objectives:
- Proper management of the Accounts Receivable by the selling dentist and purchasing dentist in order to ensure the continuation of patient care.
- The importance of pre-transition credentialing by the purchasing dentist with the insurance providers that the selling dentist participates with.
- The Professional Ethics for both a selling dentist and the purchasing dentist involved with a practice transition and HIPPA notifications.
- The “work in progress” transition strategy that is focused on continued patient treatment.
Sean C. Hudson – Hudson Transition Partners, Inc.
Sean has been transitioning dental practice for over 20 years, has completed well over one thousand valuations, and facilitated over six hundred successful transitions. Sean is the President of Hudson Transition Partners, Inc. and is a member of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts, the International Business Brokers Association, and the International Society of Business Appraisers. Sean is also an active member of the National Association of Practice Brokers and Consultants where he has served as President and is currently the Co-Chair of the Practice Valuation Study Group which is a national organization committed to standardizing dental practice valuations in the United States with over one hundred members across the Country.
Bryan Gray – Oak Crest Advisory
Bryan brings over a decade of experience of serving as a trusted business, tax and financial advisor to small business owners in the healthcare and dental space. Our firm frequently assists dentists through the entire career spectrum; from buyers’ representation, consulting with practice owners to improve profitability and minimizing taxes, to retirement planning for the exiting doctor. Timothy M. Sardone, Esq, – Pheterson Spatorico LLP
Timothy Sardone is a dedicated and experienced transactional attorney. Tim provides support to both individual and corporate clients. His support focuses on commercial transactions, drafting contracts, and healthcare transactions. A graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School, Tim has consistently demonstrated a commitment to providing exceptional legal services to clients throughout Upstate and Western New York. He works to ensure that each client receives personalized attention and tailored legal strategies. Tim is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Monroe County Bar Association.
Prior to joining Pheterson Spatorico LLP, Tim was a member of Knauf Shaw LLP, where he worked on environmental law issues pertaining to petroleum spills, hazardous waste cleanup, and the application process for the New York State Brownfield Cleanup Program.
Tim is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Monroe County Bar Association. In addition to his legal practice, Tim is an active volunteer firefighter in his community. He enjoys golfing, boating, WNY sports, and spending time with his wife and two girls.
Tracey Gutzmer, MBA – Dental Credential
Tracey has been working with dental professionals for almost 20 years in the capacity of business manager/practice manager, practice administrator, practice management coach, and now as a credentialing expert in private practice transitions. In 2024, she became the Founder and CEO of Dental Credential, a company that assists dentists with the credentialing process following the acquisition of new practices, ensuring a smooth transition and compliance with professional standards. Tracey is a dynamic leader with a proven track record in fee negotiation and credentialing procedures, specializing in transforming insurance landscapes for dental practices. Her expertise ensures that these practices not only maximize reimbursements but also benefit from streamlined processes.
Tracey received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from Butler University and a Master of Business Degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of St. Thomas. In 2013, she received the Practice Administrator of Distinction Award, AADOM.
