Let’s make it simple and bring it all together by learning more about the temporomandibular joint and how we use the information to create smiles. Understanding the temporomandibular joint and related structures can impact final restorative outcomes and aid in predictable and esthetic restorative dentistry. A deep dive into restoring form, function, and esthetics through knowledge in appliance therapy, occlusion, and equilibration will be discussed. Concepts of TMD, splint therapy, occlusion, and case treatment planning in final esthetics will be presented so we can bring this back to our practices and begin to implement.
Learning Objectives:
- Review of principles of joint anatomy, muscles, and occlusion.
- Discuss how splint therapy can treat TMD and aid in treatment position.
- Discuss posterior and anterior determinants of occlusion in a comprehensive case review.
- Review of cases from treatment of the TMD to final smile.
- How to communicate and collaborate with your team and patients in this process.
